New automation contender & generate Softr apps with AI

The latest in no code for the week of 10/16

Welcome to the third issue of No Code Now, a newsletter dedicated to keeping you informed of the latest happenings in the world of no code.

Miss out on last week? Here’s a two minute recap.

Announcements & Analysis

Relay.app, a new workflow automation platform

A new integration platform has hit the market, and I think there is potential for it to grow into a real contender. Relay.app has the same simplicity that Zapier is so well known for, but has two notable advantages: automations can involve humans mid-process, and automations consist of entire workflows.

Imagine a single automation workflow consisting of booking a meeting via Calendly, what happens after booking, what happens before the meeting, and what happens right after the meeting.

Softr’s new AI app generator

Softr just rolled out with a new AI app generator feature, letting you create an entire web application with a single prompt. It’s exciting to see it generate a landing page, table structure, field metadata, dummy data, and user groups, significantly speeding up the time needed to create an application.

Not all is rosy in the world of AI. Reports this week suggest that AI hasn’t been profitable for big tech companies and that generative AI will get a ‘cold shower’ in 2024. That doesn’t seem to be slowing down the startup scene: 160 of the 218 companies in the S23 YCombinator cohort are building AI products.

Adobe vs. Canva. While not strictly a conversation for no code, it seems like many of us no coders use these platforms for marketing, presentations, or client collaboration. Canva released several new “magic” AI features and Adobe announced 9 generative AI features at MAX.
